Towards the end of February our girl’s school had a week off for a winter school break. I don’t remember such a break when I was in school. I recall going straight out from New Years to Easter with a three day weekend somewhere in the middle for some dead president’s birthday. Times are changen. I’m not sure I like it.  

While some parents where scrabbling to find coverage for their kids, Linda and I, living the life of leisure, packed up the van, kids and dogs and headed for my oldest sister in Salem, Virginia passing through(kind of) Hickory, NC. Some of you might know about Hickory, NC. They are known for furniture making and have a furniture mart. We want a new kitchen set and as we were close to passing through this haven of furniture makers we thought we would take a look. We’ll two days of walking an untold number (I lost count) of stores in this gi-normus (new word from Lexy) four story furniture mart building was about all a man can take. If we had not saved an amazing amount of money I would have had to hide the guns, if I had any.  

The idea that we saved money while spending money is dichotomous to me. But the girls in my house are annoying comfortable with this concept. The end result was we spent 50% more then we thought we would but saved 50% of the cost if we had bought it at home. I’m still scratching my head on this one. This fuzzy math is occurring with greater frequency as my girls become more educated. This is all very confusing for me.
